Holistic digital solutions

Kevin Hyde is Rohling's Solution Architect, creating meaningful change one strategic transformation at a time.

Like Antoni Gaudí designing the Sagrada Família, Rohling’s Kevin Hyde is no stranger to crafting grand transformative plans, customising each individual puzzle piece so it fits into the bigger picture.

Instead of creating the bones of a basílica that’s taken more than 142 years to build, Kevin’s canvas is the aged care and disability services sectors, and his pen is his decades of experience leading complex systems solution and integration projects across many industries.

“I liken it to being in the ship’s crow’s nest, aware of all the activity immediately below and around, looking out to where we need to go, and seeing all the challenges and risks in between,” Kevin says.

Kevin Hyde is a Solution Architect at Rohling.

To some, that may sound dramatic.

A seasoned Solution Architect’s value is the ability to dive deep into the detail while balancing the bigger strategic goals that come with enterprise-scale solutions – and in Kevin’s case, that’s a skill driven by his passion for enacting meaningful change.

One such solution was with a not-for-profit independent Sydney-based charity, which saw Rohling help move the client’s paper-based clinical and care processes to a fully automated clinical system.

As Kevin says, just because it was a technology-focused solution, doesn’t mean it’s only about the technology and software.

Technology solutions are about more than IT

“We talk about solutions, and those aren’t just IT,” Kevin says.

“It also includes people and processes, and how well that balance can come together. Quite often people think it’s all IT, but IT is only one part of it… it’s not just a system, it’s how well business processes are supported by that system and how happy users are when they use it.”

Kevin spent more than 25 years as an Open Group Certified Solutions Architect for IBM – his “apprenticeship,” he muses with a grin – before moving to Rohling.

Since joining Rohling in 2018, he has helped many providers with solutions to transform their client and employee experiences – solutions that augment existing business capabilities and deliver new capabilities, solutions that ensure business and technology are aligned and people, process and systems are in balance to most effectively deliver business success.

While technology is Kevin’s area of experience and expertise, he is very conscious of the people experience with technology.

After all, it’s people who are either enabled by a great solution or become frustrated and constrained by something wholly inadequate.

New technology is meant to be the vehicle for change – if solutions are not well considered, then they can become a drag on the business and a waste of money.

“What does the target state look like and how can we get there from the current state?”

Kevin says that’s one of the questions he asks himself when approaching a new solution.

“Then we go about resolving existing pain points, envisioning and describing what the optimal solution is,” he continues, likening his role to steering the ship away from icebergs in its quest to arrive at its desired destination.

He’s more than equipped for it.

“I appreciate the unique challenges and requirements of the aged care and disability services industries and believe my experience and skills can help to drive meaningful change,” Kevin says.

“I’m passionate about designing and delivering innovative solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives.

“Let’s do it!”
